High-riding one-off Hyundai Tucson previewed for 2015 SEMA

Hyundai 1

The Korean automaker is set on revealing a souped-up 2016 Tucson that has been transformed into what they think is a true off-roader. Made possible with Rockstar Performance Garage (RPG), Hyundai’s compact SUV will be sporting a modified engine along with a menacing exterior finish.

Immediately apparent on the one-off Tucson is its increased ride height. RPG claimed it is now 152mm higher thanks to 17-inch KMC XD Series wheels that are wrapped in 32-inch Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 off-road tires. It also gets adjustable shock absorbers and struts courtesy of King Shocks. Moreover, the wheel wells had to be reconstructed as well in order for the aftermarket tires and suspension system to fit beneath the 2016 Tucson.

Aesthetically, the Tucson is finished in black and has yellow accents on the hood and side profile. Other exterior revisions done on the Tucson are: LED lighting, custom LED light bar, bespoke off-road bumpers and smoked rear taillights.

No interior photos were provided but RPG did say it will have a Kicker Audio sound system, 10-inch subwoofer and a Scosche Integrated Stereo kit.

Under the hood, it is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter Gamma inline-four that drives all four wheels via a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. Engine output was not revealed but the powertrain comes with an array of aftermarket add-ons. It now has upgraded turbo piping, 2.5-inch diameter Mishimoto stainless steel downpipe and chargepipe with a front-mounted intercooler, oil catch can, oil cooler, K&N air intake, Turbonetics Godzilla blow off valve and a Magnaflow center exhaust as such.

The customized Hyundai Tucson will be arriving at the 2015 SEMA Show on November 3.
